NorthStar Surgical Center officials today announced a new network relationship that will provide UnitedHealthcare employer, individual and Medicare plan participants access to NorthStar Surgical Center services.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2012, NorthStar will become a health care provider option within UnitedHealthcare’s care provider network, creating broader access for about 30,000 UnitedHealthcare plan participants in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico.
"In this era of rising health care costs, our goal is to provide easier access to health care options," said NorthStar Administrator John Brock. "This contract with UnitedHealthcare will open the door to thousands more individuals across our region to access NorthStar for services without incurring additional out-of-pocket costs. We are excited to offer the NorthStar experience to more people than ever before."
NorthStar Surgical Center was exclusively designed in 2001 to perform same-day surgical procedures with the commitment of saving patients both time and money in what would otherwise require more lengthy and expensive hospital stays.
"Our new relationship with NorthStar helps ensure that our health plan customers in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico have broad access to quality, cost-effective health care," said Scott Flannery, CEO, UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual of North Texas. "NorthStar is an important provider of health care services, and we know our plan participants appreciate having local access for this outstanding organization."
